Doom Loop

I stared until I lost focus

Coal clouds and glaucoma

I felt the ground until I no longer felt it

The half-life of the carbon in the bones

Is there to forsake us

Not the promise of time

But a snake in a hawksnest

They give you a name

And then they make you forget it

I yawned and it was lawless

Foot traffic on marble steps

Spine twisted under the weight of it

Drooling penny blood like ether

Enough to make them shine again

Is it the head of the snake

Or a louse in a hairbrush

The name will die out

But there’s more where it came from
